Abstract: The revolution in nanoscale experimental techniques has been partnered by the rapid development of atomic scale simulation tools, with the combination proving essential to many breakthrough studies. After exploring the role of computational modelling in several recent nanoscale studies, we will discuss how computational physics itself is undergoing a revolution, taking advantage of the new era of big data and machine learning.
